Though we disagree’d on a couple (actually, quite a few) outfit choices, the one thing we agree’d upon was that the ‘Punk: Chaos to Couture’ theme of this year’s met gala was dope. We both are huge proponents of any kind of grunge fashion, and we each went through our emo-kid/scene days, so we loved the theme.
I liked that the punk theme allowed some stars to go all out and look badass and awesome, and for others to take it way too far and look ridiculous. I love a good fashion disaster (wtf was Madonna THINKING? She looked HORRID).
Here are our fav's:
Anne Hathaway: I hate her. But this dressed is BEYOND, and her hair looks so good blonde. The side-boob revealing cutouts and the furry sleeves are just perfect.
Cara Delevingne: The theme was perfect for Cara, as she seems to reek of a punk-attitude on the daily. She just doesn’t give a fuck, and I love it. The side braid, smoldering eye and spiked Burberry dress hit all the right notes.
Alexa Chung: This dress is perfect. Everything about this dress is perfect. Even with that ridiculous neckline lace thingyer.
Kristen stewart: Girl knows how to be sassy as fuck and always look good doing it. Although Lauren doesn’t agree with me on this, I think Kristen looked great.
Miley Cyrus: WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE HOW AWESOME SHE LOOKED! FUCKING NAILED IT.
Minka Kelly: Sexy, sheer, embellished, PINK. Minka obviously didn’t get the “punk theme” memo but still rocked it.
Rooney Mara: Her Givenchy dress is so, so good. It has all these hard edges and lines but is made with lacy material and has a soft, flowing train. It’s a perfectly balanced dress. Plus her bold lips and minimal hair complete the punk look. She looks like a dark angel.
Taylor Swift: She’s annoying, but she must have a great stylist. Love the embellishments and cutouts of her J.Mendel dress.
WORST:
Kim Kardashian: While trolling through #metgala pics on Instagram last night, we saw Kardashian compared to a chesterfield, wallpaper, even Mrs. Doubtfire (funny). Unfortunately, we agree. That is just way too much floral for one dress. Sorry, Givenchy.
Madonna: Way. Too. Much.
Sidenotes: Kate Upton looked stupid and boring (probably didn’t just LOOK that way, amirite?). Also, WHERE THE F WAS RIHANNA?
